What is Autogenic Training?

Autogenic training is a relaxation method that aims to promote relaxation and influence bodily functions. It is a form of self-hypnosis that leads to a kind of resting state of the body's vegetative functions (such as blood circulation, pulse rate, breathing).

In autogenic training, formulaic phrases are used that have an effect on the autonomic nervous system. In this way, with a little practice, many involuntary bodily functions such as heartbeat, hormone release and digestion can be influenced at will. Mental strength and concentration can also be increased with targeted formulas.

Over time, you will learn the ability to make your body react automatically to the formulas and ideas learned during training. This self-regulation allows you to relax in stressful moments or challenging situations.

Some practice is required to achieve this effect. Over the course of a few weeks, your own ability to relax is usually trained to such an extent that you can "switch over" to relaxation mode within a few minutes.

There are three progressive levels:

In level 1, the basic level, you learn how to switch from a state of wakefulness to relaxation and back again. It promotes relaxation and body awareness and can have a positive influence on vegetative functions and the experience of stress.

Level 2 deepens relaxation and body awareness from the basic level and allows even more targeted use. It can be effective for persistent disorders such as sleep disorders, headaches and digestive disorders, but can also have a relieving effect on anxiety disorders, for example.

Level 3 is primarily aimed at supporting the achievement of goals, offers the opportunity for self-awareness and acts as a catalyst for changing behavior and increasing one's own performance.

Your benefits from autogenic training

Whether in a course or in individual sessions;

Once you have learned autogenic training under supervision, you will be able to use this technique independently in your everyday situations.

As a result of the skills you have acquired, your body will automatically react to the formulas and ideas you have learned during the training. This self-regulation enables you to relax in stressful moments or challenging situations.

With targeted formulas, you can learn to increase your mental stamina and focus. This can be helpful for challenging projects, important presentations or complex tasks, when acquiring new skills and when studying.

Once you have learned the techniques of autogenic training, you can use them at any time as a valuable tool to actively promote your physical and mental relaxation.
